Operating Instructions

The Interactive Display features an 3D printed, and lazer cut Rube Goldberg machine which showcases the movement of microplastics and phthalates throughout both the marine ecosystem and the human body - highlighting the easy movement of such elements in the human body and marine ecosystems - further highlighting the importance of the pathfinder’s water bottle featuring a fully 3D printed structure with an arduino-powered LED ring symbolizing an UVC-LED used to breakdown phthalates in water, and a water filter filtering out larger pieces of microplastics.

*Important Information:

Due to shipping issues, the top part of the Rube Goldberg machine is not functioning to it’s full capacity, but it’s still able to showcase the movement at an advanced level.

Step 1

  1. Firstly, push the button above the wood-water bottle graphic cut to initiate the process of the Rube Goldberg machine to showcase the movement of the marble throughout both the marine ecosystems and the human body. Once pushed, the marble (symbolizing microplastics and pthalates) moving throughout the ecosystems. The Rube Goldberg machine showcases the easy movement of the microplastics through the marine ecosystem and human body due to the marble symbolizing such elements and the various lazer cut and 3D printed items inside of the machine symbolizing the process such elements cycle through.
